Critical Metrics for Growing Companies: Case Study

Fast Growing Company Surveys Employees to Manage Growth and Foster Engagement

A fast growing company was looking for a way to assess the impact of its growth on employees and continue to benefit from an engaged and loyal workforce. Working with Critical Metrics, they designed a survey process that allowed employees to share feedback with management on key issues related to the company, its management, customers, and the day-to-day work. Special emphasis was placed on assessing how effective the company was at retaining its most important resource, its employees, and on discovering existing obstacles to effective departmental function

Critical Metrics assisted the company with survey creation, administration, and result tabulation. We analyzed results for the individual business units and geographies of the firm, providing separate and unique reports of findings for each. Current findings were presented alongside those from the previous year, allowing for insight into where satisfaction had improved, remained the same, or declined. We also conducted key-driver analysis to reveal the top drivers of commitment to the firm. This analysis allowed management to prioritize the survey findings based on the areas that mattered most for commitment.

Based on careful analysis of ratings and open-ended comments, Critical Metrics outlined opportunities for improvement and suggested a manageable set of potential next steps to take. As a means of encouraging management to be accountable to its employees, several items were included in each year’s survey which addressed the question of whether or not management was sharing and acting on survey findings.

Measuring employee engagement progressively became a critical metric for the organization. Having realized the importance of assessing engagement, the company incorporated surveying of employees and acting on their feedback into its very culture.
